A lot of questions will get answered in Omaha. I don't disagree that Minny is the odds on heavy heavy favorite. They are loooooooaded. I realize that making this pick makes it look like I am a homer. Our team is young and they have the seniors so it doesn't look good......but I was there when a freshman beat #1 ranked Bill Kelly and OSU upset #1 Iowa State....When Chris Barnes won and we Upset #1 Iowa. I like our young guys and it could happen again. If it doesn't no harm, we werent supposed to, if we do congrats. Again if Minny wins I won't be shocked. If OSU wins I won't be shocked either.

P.S. what does it say that since Robinson left the bench in Iowa they have gone down while Minny has gone up..........He is another great coach in our sport we love.

You should have said Barnes when up a weight to win. If I am remembering right, Barnes was either ranked or just very good his soph. year, there were 3 matched left in the dual. 177, 190, and hwt. we needed a victory to win the dual from either the 177 or the 190 match, Barnes was at 177, but he would have been the dog to someone like Royce, so OSU waited till Royce took the mat and marched out a sub. We didn't have a great 190 pounder at the time so Barnes wrestled at 190 and won a very tough match, I shook his hand right after the match (he was wasted). We won two out of the last three matches and the dual. 19-15
That was a turning point for OSU and Barnes. One of the best days of my life. I think I saw YankeeKev there too.

First off Seton of course this is all up in the air at this point because the season hasnt started, we're just having fun here. Thats the whole point of message boards isnt it? To bring together fans of wrestling from all across the country in civil discussion.

No ones calling names or being disrespectful we just have a difference in opinions which is probably strongly influenced by our home team bias.

Here is the thing, duals win nothing, so I will go and scream my head off, but in the end I know, duals win nothing. I no longer care about the final scores only to see that the wrestlers are improving toward the goal of scoring takedowns on the opponents and turning those shoulders over. And stop kidding yourselves OSU matches up with Minn in a dual very well.

Second off l8agin there are several severe flaws in your analysis.

1) I wouldnt be surprised if dustin teched simpson but I think simpson is able to keep it to a major or maybe even a dec. It depends on what dustin is wrestling

2) I dont understand what you've seen from newly mcspadden that makes you think he's going to upset an all american and national championship calibur wrestler like cp. Newly is good at keeping matches close so I'll give cp a fairly close decision but it wouldnt surprise me if he busted out a major because he pretty much outclasses mcspadden from every position.

3) The tyler who got majored by mcspadden is NOT the same tyler who qualified for nationals and beat ancercavage as well as many other ranked opponents at 165 last year. Beating the returning finalist at 157 proved what he is capable of and with 165 being so depleted this year Tyler is definately all american material, which is more then can be said for diffenbach at this point in time. Tyler is favored in this match and rightly so

3) At 133 you have "nearly the same result" as thorn getting whooped on 10-1. If you think Mack is going to come even close to getting majored by scott I'd like to have some of what you're drinking, if Mack hadnt been injured last year we'd be looking at a three time all american just like scott. If you think bonus points are likely in this match on EITHER side you're pretty crazy.

4) While Morgan could very well beat rivera I'd like to hear why you think hes such a shoe in your logic of "Its Morgans year!" doesnt really present a compelling arguement. What skills does morgan bring to the table that you think will push him past rivera?

4) at 174 I agree its very possible that Mason beats dretsch as they have gone 3-2 over the past two years, but this is the third tossup match in a row you have going to OSU which is extremely optimistic on your part.

Why do Minn fans need to wonder how one of their "greatest ever" wrestlers is wrestling?
Did I ever go to a match and wonder how Espo or Alan or Pat or John or Barnes or Pendleton or Monday or Sheets or Cross or Mark or etc. was going to wrestle. No! Lets face it 149 is a dog for OSU this year. If your "Best(of all time)" can't get more than 3 or 4 points out of this match that is a OSU victory in and of it's self. I believe Dustin will go all out for a bonus point victory only because he is wrestling OSU's history, he has not lived up to the hype he has been given up to this (half way) point. He has time (two more years), he is healthy, I love good wrestling, so I will sit back and watch. But at this point he wouldn't even make it on my all-time great list (of fun wrestlers to watch) if he was at OSU.

As far as cp not being national champ material of the 7 othe all americans last year cp had wins over 3 of them including the champ, he also got screwed out of a win over henning the other finalist.

As far as morgan needing "more lungs" this is exactly why I think rivera will win its a bad style matchup for morgan as manny is absolutely relentless and pushes the pace. Its mannys senior year also and he's going to go out with a bang

As far as OSU winning 7/10 and Dieffenbach wiping the floor with tyler I will make a sig bet on either of those for any time period you choose to name

I guess CP wrestles better when I am not watching, that could be a problem for him, I'll be at the match, and not only that but he will be able to hear me too!

Morgan only needs lungs to win by MORE points, he has more than effort lungs to (just) win.

I don't "bet" or use "sigs" but if your at the match we could go out to dinner afterwords and exchange stories about our teams. I love to talk about the good old days (still going on).

No matter what happens at the dual (it doesn't matter anyway) it will be a great match.
I have changed from wanting to win every dual, to wanting the wrestlers to get better every dual. I know that sounds stupid, but duals mean nothing is stupid. And they wonder why attendance falls every year till Nationals (which does mean something).

And then there was the match where a Sophomore (John Smith) beat the defending National Champion from Wisconsin (Jordan)in the most amazing upset I have ever seen. Jordan was so mad he paced back and forth behind the bench and did something like 125 push ups with all of us in the crowd counting them off for him although he was oblivious to us and John limped off the mat and could barely walk.

Amazing things happen in Gallagher/Iba arena during duals while I am there. If they ever quit happening I might quit going but every year somebody steps up and makes the dual a lifelong memory.

or when a freshman(Espo) beat the number 2 ranked wrestler in the country for OU (can't recall his name cuz he quit soon after and they brought Teyon out of redshirt whom promptly won the national title) with a pin after hitting a single, double, duck under, and lateral drop all in about 3 minutes. Schlatter may have beaten Espo but it wasn't on his shot, it was on Espo's....he was never called for stalling....very exciting to watch
