D1CW's 2014-15 WWC Wrestler of the Year: Hayden Zillmer (North Dakota State) Hayden Zillmer took the long road to the podium in earning his first All-American honor. He was upset in the first round of the NCAA Championships then proceeded to win his next five matches, before falling to 6th place. Zillmer earned it defeating seeded wrestlers in every one of his consolation matches including the #4 seed Jack Dechow in the Round of 16 and #2 seed Max Thomusseit in the Round of 12. Prior to the NCAA Tournament Hayden captured his second WWC/West Regional Championship. One highlight of his season was a third place finish at the Cliff Kee Las Vegas Invitational, which included a win over the eventual NCAA Champion Gabe Dean.
D1CW's 2014-15 WWC Coach of the Year: Roger Kish (North Dakota State) In the 2014-15 season the North Dakota State Bison sent a school record six wrestlers to the NCAA Championships and placed two (Kurtis Julson, Zillmer) on the podium. This was a first for the school, as well. The Bison won their second consecutive conference tournament and completed the WWC dual slate undefeated. That was good enough for NDSU to finish the regular season in the top 20 nationally. It is the second consecutive season in which Roger Kish has been named Coach of the Year for the WWC.
