2013-14 D1CW Wrestler of the Year: David Taylor (Penn State) In a season full of upsets and unexpected occurances, the one constant was Penn State's David Taylor. At 34-0, Taylor was the only wrestler who finished the season undefeated. In doing so he won his second NCAA Championship in his fourth NCAA Final. Only two of Taylor's 2013-14 bouts were regular decisions (both were to his NCAA Finals opponent Tyler Caldwell). After the season he also received his second career Hodge Trophy. For his career Taylor finished 134-3 and 121 of those wins earned bonus points. This is the second time David Taylor has been named D1CW's Wrestler of the Year, he also received the honor after the 2012 season.
2013-14 D1CW Coach of the Year: Tim Flynn (Edinboro) Edinboro set a new school high with their 5th place finish at the NCAA Championships. Three Fighting Scot wrestlers were All-American's, and all of them placed in the top four at their respective weights. After winning the EWL for the first time since 2010, seven Edinboro wrestlers qualified for Nationals. During the regular season, Flynn guided Edinboro to a 11-3 dual record, with includes a runner-up finish at the Virginia Duals and also his 14th PSAC Championship. Tim Flynn was also named the D1CW EWL Coach of the Year following the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
2013-14 D1CW Co-Freshman of the Year: Jason Tsirtsis (Northwestern) A 3-1 win in sudden victory over Josh Kindig of Oklahoma State, gave Jason Tsirtsis a National Title, the first Northwestern history by a Freshman. Tsirtsis finished the season on a 16 match winning streak, which included his first Big Ten Title. In order for Tsirtsis to make the NCAA Finals he needed to overcome Penn State's Cinderella story James English, 2013 NCAA Champ Kendric Maple and the #1 seed Drake Houdashelt of Missouri.
2013-14 D1CW Co-Freshman of the Year: J'Den Cox (Missouri) The Missouri Freshman J'Den Cox's NCAA Championship was the first by a True Freshman since Kyle Dake in 2010. Cox finished the season on a twenty match winning streak and compiled an overall record of 38-2. In MAC Championship competition, he won all three of his bouts by bonus points en route to his title.
