Why is it that in most college sports if you start you're recognized; where with wrestling, if you take 2nd in most conferences your chopped liver? I think USA finished 4th in Baku behind an impossible performance by Russia and everyone is beating their breasts and calling for the coaches heads.
This write up strikes to the heart of how we are missing the boat in promoting our sport with the fixation on winning a championship rather than the character it takes to compete. Only a poor wrestler will ever know the humiliation of standing in your underwear having your opponents hand raised a few times a week. Talk about the agony of defeat.
