I don't think the PAC 10 is particular deep or talented this season at 133 lbs - especially with Cal Poly's Mendes moving up to 141 lbs. He would have been a definite AA candidate this season for the PAC 10 at 133 lbs and may well be just that at 141 lbs as well. Nonetheless I THINK that the following is what the PAC 10 looks like this season at 133 lbs. I've ranked them (below) in the order that I think they should be ranked right now - but I'm sure things will change after this weekend's tournament in Vegas is over.
- CS Fullerton - TJ Dillashaw (Jr) 2007 National Qualifier - 2-2 so far this season (one loss by Default) Beat Filip Novachkov of Cal Poly 7-6 in dual match. Placed 4th at 2007 PAC 10 tournament at 133 lbs.
- Cal Poly - Filip Novachkov (RS Fr) - 4-2 so far this season - Lost 7-6 to T.J. Dillashaw of CS Fullerton in dual match. Beat Thomas Kimbrell of CS Fullerton 3-1 at Fullerton Open tournament.
- CS Bakersfield - Thomas Kimbrell (Jr) - 6-1 so far this season. Lost 3-1 to Filip Novachkov of Cal Poly at Fullerton Open tournament - Beat Justin Paulsen of Stanford by Maj. Dec. 12-4 at Fullerton Open tournament. Placed 5th at 2007 PAC 10 tournament at 133 lbs.
- Boise State - Cory Fish (Jr) - 8-2 so far this season. Won 7-0 over Oregon's Joey Lucas. Won 2-0 over Oregon State's Kelly Kubec. Won 2-0 over Oregon State's Tyler Phillips. Fish’s two losses were (both) to Andrew Hochstrasser of Boise State (5-0 and 2-1) and Hochstrasser is being redshirted this season. Placed 6th at 2007 PAC 10 tournament at 125 lbs.
- Arizona State - Todd Schavrien (RS Fr) - 5-0 so far this season. Majority Decision win (14-3) over UC Davis’ Brandon Low
- University of Oregon - Ryan Dunn (Jr) - 9-2 so far this season. Lost 8-1 to Andrew Hochstrasser of Boise State
- Stanford - Justin Paulsen (RS Fr) - 11-4 so far this season. Lost 12-4 to Thomas Kimbrell of CS Bakersfield
- UC Davis - Brandon Low (RS Fr) - 3-3 so far this season. Lost 14-3 to Todd Schavrien of Arizona State.
- Oregon State - Ryan Enoch (Jr) - 1-2 so far this season.
- Portland State - Nobody
