Complete lack of class. If he was choking my kid like that I would come unglued. If he wants to go to MMA he can join Hendricks over there and they can choke each other.

Perry looked nuts! There is no excuse for how long he held onto that choke, none whatsoever.
This could be the beginning of the end for Perry. People are figuring him out. He is not that great on his feet. They just will start to go neutral instead of taking down, I think he's won his last NCAA title. He could win by virtue of a relatively weak weight class, but he looked pretty bad there.

vaisforlovers, yankeekev, you must be seeing this match through your very bias eyes! What I see is an extremely bad referee that totally miscalled this match! There were NO back points, and maybe just maybe 1 takedown for Brown and 1 for Perry. Where was the "control" ? Mr Brown should have been called all day for stalling as he had just one clean shot and one half hearted shot. Every point he did ear was off a counter move.
As to your reference of Mr Perry being so out of control, well you must have never been to too many D1 matches as what I see in this match is common place by all wrestlers. The thing that got my blood going was the referee allowing coach's onto the mat during a match! In my refereeing days that would have gotten your butt tossed from the gym for the rest of the day.
What I see is Brown winning but only by a point or two at the most and if I was the referee his ass would have been called at least 4 times for stalling. I think he can be a good wrestler but if he doesn't initiate the action he should be both called and coached to wrestle. You can hear coach Martin telling him to circle and circle, but never to shoot!
All that being said, take off your bias glasses and take a new look at this match. IMO this match will seal the National Championship for Perry. He like all champions HATES TO LOSE! And Yankeekev, I think your OSU bias is showing because Perry got away fro you when he came to Iowa! Get use to it as I have hear from a close source that his younger brother is coming this way soon also!

Actually, if you read on the favorite teams thread, you will see taht Iowa is one of my all time favorites. Really not an okie state fan whatsoever. I really thought a lot of perry, but after that choke(not so much the choke but how he wouldn't let go waaaay after he knew the match was being stopped) my opinion slightly changed.

C'mon, bias glasses, the kid gasped so hard when Perry finally let go that it is audible on the tape. My bias was against Perry when as a freshman in high school he threw his silver meddle in the trash and threw a hissy fit. He is a spoiled brat who happens to be blessed with athletic ability. His dad was one of my favorite wrestlers and I assure you I had no ill feelings when he went to Iowa because I had watched Johny wrestle all thru High School and he was the better recruit. Mark can and probably will still win it all, but there is no mistaken what he did. He was frustrated and he choked that kid, another hissy fit and this time it was recorded on tape. If his brother choses Iowa over OSU it will be for the same reason, He thinks he can start there and he doesn't think he can start here.

Wow -- this is infinitley more exciting than the actual match was!! I only saw the utube version, and had a lot of difficulty making all the finer details of the match out -- it may have been the sort of match you have to have a disposition towards to actually discern what is happening, 'cause I was wondering, when the match was all over, where the dickens the l2 pts came from! I had no idea there were that many points scored, so perhaps the reffing was a bit suspect. The choking thing is at such an angle, you have to assume that Perry is tryng to choke him I guess. Maybe he is, but that wouldn't be my automatic assumption watching the utube version. Perry was obviously getting desperate, and looked to be trying to save himself as much as anything. His moves, other than the standing front head, didn't appear to have choke written all over them. He looked like a guy who was swimming frantically, sort of grasping at anything to save himself. Frankly, I could care less about who was winning or what team he was from. However, Perry took every shot, and Brown, although having faked several shots, never actually took one. I guess from that angle, he was playing a pretty strong defensive game, waiting, as much as anything, for Perry to commit himself. However, even with this in mind, keep up the entertainment guys!! At this point, I have Yankeekev ahead just barely!!

Willy, I watched it several times, the move is legit, he is going for a pin, but it took 7 whistles and being touched by the ref and a coach before he lets go. That is how i see it. No bias, my son counted the whistles, not me.

First off I want to say that I love Chris Brown and do not like Iowa but that was no deliberate choke.
WHY? As he was trying to pull the head under Perry collapsed to the mat. He had the head with his right arm and was broke down to his right hip. TO WHAT LEVERAGE could have pulled him self up to release the hold? He had no leverage. They were both in a postion that needed assistance to be released. Because of the intensity of the match and the fact the ref blew the whistle so many times made appear to be malistious. I do not believe it was.
Later the ref was spooked about the earlier situation and stopped the next hold.
NOW- There is no doubt chris brown's air supply was cut off "twiching feet" always prove this. It just was being done on purpose.
As far as perry goes. Since when does a college wrestler reach back for the head. Isnt that the cardinal rule as far back as the Peewee's?

My son made that same comment on reaching back. I watched a kid in Okla. choke out 4 kids a few years ago, I already agreed that the move he was throwing was legit but I have a hard time believing he didn't know he was choking him, he's been wrestling since probably before he could walk. He is cockier than most (show me a wrestler who isn't and I'll show you a loser) and knows what he is doing on the mat. The only comparison I can make is when a pro batter gets beaned in a game and he is the 3rd guy hit in retaliation. Those pitchers can throw a ball within 4 inches of where they want to ...It isn't an accident.....I just happen to believe this wasn't either. Wrestling will go on either way, whether he did or didn't...I'm not calling for his head or anything.
