at 197 vs. American John pulled the redshirt of Clayton Foster. This kid is very slick on his feet for a big guy. He looks like he may struggle with some of the bigger 97 lbers but if you are anywhere close to him in strength he will kill you. Got a t.f. 19-4 for his first official match. He also won the CMSU unattached. OSU shut out American. Word is that Cody had to kick some wrestlers off his team. If anybody can shed some light on this i'd appreciate it.

I know Boise State wanted Clayton Foster a LOT....they couldn't match Oklahoma State's "deal" tho.........the Cowboy's got themselves a good on (out of Idaho) in Foster. That is for sure and for certain. ;D

I hope he is stronger than he looks. His technique is certainly not in question. Appears small but also appears to have a lot of heart. Bronco if you got to see him in High School I would love to hear some tales. I am really excited about his prospects this year. I'll still never forget when Mark Branch entered the tourney in March with a losing record as a freshman and came away with the title. After Clayton takes a few lumps he certainly has the pedigree to pull it off.

Sorry.....I have no tales to tell on Foster. I've never seen him wrestle at all......I haven't been to a HS wrestling match in probably 20 years.......only college matches for me thanks.
Also, Foster is a northern Idaho kid.....and I'm in Southern Idaho. It's like being in another State. You'd have to be from Idaho to understand that I think.
I just hope he gets homesick and wants to wrestle a little closer to home......at Boise State. LOL

Well if you ever get a chance, I highly recommend it. My dad, my brother and I go to High School state every year. We fill out the brackets and have friendly wagers with each other. It is always fun to try and get some scoop on where the upset will happen. We have 2A 3A 4A 5A and like Idaho, Oklahoma is basically divided into quarters. Big and Small East and Big and Small West. It is amazing how many 39-1 guys there are at state that are unknowns to the other side of the state. Makes for some exciting matches like a few years ago when Porter (who had already signed with OSU) wrestled Ervin (who is now ranked for App. State). Of course everyone knew who Porter was, but none of knew much about Ervin. Ervin beat Porter for the title and I remember thinking 'why didn't we get Ervin instead of Porter". I also got to see Teyon, Haze, Flaggart, Perry, Hendricks,Pat Smith, Kenny Monday, Sheets, Cross, Jaworski...I am sure I could go on and on (we've been doing this for a long time) and of course my favorite last yr was my son! It's always a hoot, and then when they go to college and have great careers you can say I saw em' when.

Yankee,
Cody no longer has on his team, Rudy Rueda (Round of 12 last NCAA Tournament) and heavyweight, Adam LoPiccolo (Would have most certainly been an AA last year but was asked to leave the team). LoPiccolo had wins over Gritter (Twice), May of Nebraska and others two years ago. He was ranked top 10 when he was asked to leave. Both would have been wrestling this season if they didn't F-up. Others no longer on the team were non-scorer types. Glenn is still rehabing his knee that was purposely twisted by Backes in the finals last year. Required surgery, yet he STILL beat Backes in OT. Surprised more people have not called Backes out on the cheap and dirty tactic. If you were there and saw it, it was certainly done on purpose. Glenn will be ready for Midlands.

I didn't realize that Glenn was hurt from that. It did look dirty, but Glenn didn't really even react to it and hid his pain well. True stud.
