^^^Eagle123, I was totally fired-up to see the Delaware State wrestlers registered for the ESU Open! Not sure, but I think Kelvin Watford (placed 4th in the 2008 East Region) is from New Jersey. At the time I looked at the ESU Open registration list I don't recall seeing Nowry. I'm glad he's wrestling this season. He must be a senior by now. -Stove Pipe

YOU ARE PROBABLY RIGHT ABOUT KELVIN, I JUST GOT THIS INFO LAST NIGHT. NOWRY WIL BE WRESTLING THIS YEAR, NOT SURE WHY HE ISNT REGISTERED. KEEP AN EYE ON BRANDON GARDENER @ 157. HE HAS BEEN AT 65 FOR THE OAST TWO YEARS AND UNDERSIZED AND ALMOST BEAT PORTER WHO IS TOUGH. I HOPE CATHELL AND GRAJALES MEET IN THE FINALS @ THE ESU OPEN.

^^^I like to watch Cathell wrestle top. He can give guys fits with that head/arm lock he does, while riding off to the side. We filmed Cathell lasts year in the finals of the Navy Classic (Nov '07 Navy Classic finals were/are on the Video section of WR.com). Cathell is fun to watch.
By the way, I am a huge fan of Ken Melchior, and saw many of his college matches, including his NCAA win in 1968. Among other things, Melchior was a consumate scrambler. He'd most always come out on top. Ken also was an excellent leg rider and could pin or stack from top. Also, believe it or not, Melchior could switch off the whistle. I mean switch off the whistle at the college level! In college Melchior was coached by the Legend Gray Simons. Ahhh, those were the days. -Stove Pipe

Golly Syovepipe you make me feel young with that talk you old fogey
DESU with a full lineup what a trip. They should win many matches since last year they were close with 18 pts of FF. Melchior did a wonderful job getting that schedule and fielding a full team. Hope this is a harbinger of better days for DESU.

^^^LightWeightLooker, I've been following college wrestling since 1954. My parents (both passed away) started following wrestling about 1940. To this day, I sometimes have old former wrestlers tell me how much they appreciated my parents' following their team - home and away.
Well, LWL, one we go. PLEASE give me a holler this Saturday up at the Lehigh/Pitt match. I'll be hunkered down helping Bruce Closson with video taping. -Stove Pipe
