2013-14 D1CW EWL Wrestler of the Year: Mitchell Port (Edinboro) For the second consecutive season Edinboro's Mitchell Port has been named D1CW's EWL Wrestler of the Year. Port entered the NCAA Championships as an undefeated top seed at 141 lbs. Though he was upset in the quarterfinals, Port battled his way back to third place majoring Evan Henderson, the wrestler who previously upended him. In the regular season Port won the Midlands Championship to go along with his third PSAC Championship. Prior to Nationals, he won his second EWL Championship.
2013-14 D1CW EWL Coach of the Year: Tim Flynn (Edinboro) Edinboro set a new school high with their 5th place finish at the NCAA Championships. Three Fighting Scot wrestlers were All-American's, and all of them placed in the top four at their respective weights. After winning the EWL for the first time since 2010, seven Edinboro wrestlers qualified for Nationals. During the regular season, Flynn guided Edinboro to a 11-3 dual record, with includes a runner-up finish at the Virginia Duals and also his 14th PSAC Championship. Tim Flynn was also named the D1CW EWL Coach of the Year following the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
2013-14 D1CW EWL Freshman of the Year: Austin Matthews (Clarion) Clarion's Austin Matthews completed his True Freshman campaign with a 23-9 record competing at 157 lbs. He was also an EWL Champion, which puts him into an elite group of Freshman EWL Champions for Clarion. The group includes NCAA Champions Sheldon Thomas and Kurt Angle. Thomas last accomplished the feat twenty years ago. At his first NCAA Tournament Matthews went 1-2, and his win was by fall over the SoCon Champion.
