Hey Earl - I noticed you dropped Adam Hall from the rankings and also inserted Nathaniel Holt into the #1 ranking at 149 in the Pac-10. I haven't heard anything about Hall - is he hurt? I also haven't heard if Casperson is redshirting at 197? Thanks for all the work on rankings. Thanks

I've have been told that its highly unlikely that Hall will be able to make 149. There is talk of maybe Sherfey at 149, but I am not sure about that right now.
We shall see about Casperson. I'm sure his performance vs Chriswell will determine that.

Hall going up to 157 .... Sherfey and Swartz will battle for the spot at 165.

I have heard Sherfey MIGHT be at 149 lbs (I personally don't believe that mysefl).
I have also heard Sherfey will remain at 157 lbs (much more likely) and that Sherfey and Hall will compete against one another to decide who will start at 157 lbs.
AND I have heard Sherfey might move up to 165 lbs and that Sherfey and Swartz will compete against one another to decide who will start at 165 lbs.
Only time will tell which of those three scenarios will prove to be true.
Right now (with the season about to start in just a couple of weeks) my GUESS would be the following will be the Boise State lineup for this season:
125 - Brian Owen (True Freshman) OR Alan Bartelli - True Sophomore 133 - Andrew Hochstrasser (RS Sophomore) 141 - Cory Fish (True Senior) OR Jason Chamberlain - True Freshman 149 - Nathaniel Holt (RS Sophomore) 157 - Tyler Sherfey (RS Senior) OR Adam Hall (RS Sophomore) 165 - Kurt Swartz (RS Sophomore) OR Tyler Sherfey (RS Senior) OR Adam Hall (RS Sophomore) 174 - Nate Lee (RS Junior) 184 - Kirk Smith (True Sophomore) 197 - Brent Chriswell (RS Sophomore) 285 - Nick Smith (RS Senior) OR Andy Patrick (RS Senior) OR Sam Zylstra (True Junior)
It was reported that Adam Hall got up to as much as 175 lbs in the off season so it would seem to be extremely unlikely that Hall will EVER be able to get back down to 149 lbs.
P.S. Watch out for Zylstra at heavyweight.

I am very interested in seeing them at the National duals. Boise could be a sleeper if I was a gambler. I like Boise State`s drive in the sport of wrestling.

thanks for all the info. I saw that Intermat had Hall ranked at 157 and Sherfey ranked at 165. Whatever the case Boise State's lineup is going to be tough this year and even tougher next year. They Pac-10 finals could be a dual match against BSU. This may be the best lineup they have ever had.

In any of these scenarios I would bet on Sherfey, i.e., Sherfey vs. Adam Hall - I'll take Sherfey. Sherfey vs. Kurt Swartz - I'll again take Sherfey.
One other thing to keep in mind here. Adam Hall had a serious injury last season and it is the sort of injury that can reoccur frequently. I think he missed four to six weeks of last season due to that injury and he was only cleared to compete again about three or four days before the PAC 10 tournament began last season. Plus he forfeited in the PAC 10 finals because he didn't want to risk getting injured again in the finals vs. Atkinson when he was already guaranteed a spot at the NCAA tournament (where he beat Atkinson).
