Last season ended with four unseeded All-American's
125-Mark McKnight (Penn State) 141-Matt Kyler (Army) 157-Matt Moley (Bloomsburg) 197-David Bertolino (Iowa State)
These guys where unseeded and made it to the round of 12. This is not the full list, just guys who suprised me with their NCAA performance (purely judgement calls)
133-Cory Fish (Boise State) 141-Chris Drouin (Arizona State) 157-Jon Bonilla-Bowman (Hofstra) 165-Luke Manuel (Purdue) 174-Alex Dolly (Northern Iowa) 197-Jason Trulson (Arizona State)
The question is who will be this year's suprises?? I'm talking about guys who as of now are unranked or maybe ranked below 15 or so, but will AA in your opinion and suprise everyone else.

^^^One of my favorites who was unseeded in the 2008 NCAA Tournament, but finished top 12 at 184, was WVU's Kurt Brenner. I hope he climbs the podium in 2009. -Stove Pipe

^^^It's perhaps a bit of a stretch to think of former PIAA champ and Fargo runnerup Dragon as a darkhorse, but sure, since he had a bum shoulder, summer of 2007 shoulder surgery, and was out last season. The fabulously talented Dragon as a true frosh won the EIWA's and was top 12 in the 2006 NCAA's. He certainly has the ability to become a 2X NCAA All-American and 3 or 4X EIWA champ. -Stove Pipe

Andrew Anderson from UNI @ 197. Owns a win over Dallas Herbst in their dual meet. He needs to be more consistent in his wrestling ability. But for this question I will put his name in here.

I'm not sure what your defiinition of a "Darkhorse" is but my choice would be Andrew Hochstrasser of Boise State. Intermat's pre-season rankings have him ranked at # 10 at 133 lbs but he defeated two of the nine guys who are ranked ahead of him. Namely Lou Ruggirello of Hostra )Ranked # 8 in the nation by Intermat at 133 lbs) and Navy's Joe Baker (ranked # 6 in the nation by Intermat). Hochstrasser beat Ruggirello 4-0 last season. Hochstrasser and Baker split the two matches they had last season against one another - each of them won one of those two matches by one point, i.e., 8-7 win by Baker over Hochstrasser and 9-8 by Hochstrasser over Baker.
Hochstrasser, I am told, is planning on competing for a national championship this season at 133 lbs.

ryan morningstar is on the roster for 157. I think it would be great if he goes 165 that weight needs some good wrestler. very week weight compared to some weights classes.

^^^Darkhorse? I'll climb out on a high limb and guess that the Nov 1 roundrobin between Matt Kyler, Eric Medina, and Torsten Gillespie will prove to be interesting. -Stove Pipe
