Both the SoCon and Pac10 rankings have been updated. So have NCAA rankings. Also the conferences that were done earlier may have been tweaked as well.

Hi Earl - Thanks for the rankings - they look good. I was wondering if there was a reason for Sherfey to be ranked behind Pami in the Pac-10 rankings and way ahead of him in the NCAA rankings? Just curious. Also, do you know if CHriswell is going to wrestle this year and if Casperson is going to redshirt? Thanks

^^^IDAHO, I don't know a heck of a lot, BUT Boise State wrestling insiders are saying that Chriswell (not going on a mission at this time) is eligible to compete this season, and likely will be at 197 pounds. Here's the eligibility reasoning. Even though Chriswell's transfer to Boise State is his second transfer, he does NOT have to sit out this season because at the time Chriswell got released from Arizona State, Arizona State had announced that it was dropping wrestling. Boise State coaching staff says that, under the circumstances, its their understanding that Chriswell can compete and he will do so. (I defer to Earl on your other questions.) -Stove Pipe

Very good question Idaho. It does look funny, I know. Sherfey had the better NCAA tourney advancing to the Round of 12, while Pami went two and out. So ranked among all of the guys from other conferences Sherfey is much higher. But with the smaller sample size of the Pac 10 guys Pami owned the last victory head to head, in the Pac 10 final.
Hope this explains a bit.
As for Chriswell/Casperson. At this point in time I believe the plan is for Chriswell to start and while Casperson has a RS to use. Of course between wrestle-off's, injuries and early season tournament preformances things can change.

I like your reasoning head to head looks like you might have to go that direction, but big tournaments can make or break you and what is bigger than the NCAA championships?
moving on though, BSU, I realize Brian Owen comes in with some high credentials and Bartelli (125)isn't given much of a chance but he has improved alot and it should be some good battles in the room. time will tell but I would probably give the nod to Owensince his will be a bigger than Bartaelli. I will play the wait and see one at this weight. 133 not sure yet here who is going to be the starter, Here at 141 keeps me very curious of how it will be palyed out, Is Fish going to Redshirt? Can Fish slow down the scoring machine Jason Chamberlain? Why wouldn't chamberlain be in here as well as Brian Owen is at 125? I know you can only go with the information that you have been given so it looks good. We also may be leaving out Andy Patrick whom I hear has been cleared and has been working out hard. 149, and 157 are log Jam here so not sure where it goes.

Earl and Stovepipe - Thanks for the information. I understand the reasoning at 157. !97 will be interesting - I wouldn't mind seeing that wrestle-off. Does Chriswell have a redshirt year left?
Run 2 Win - I agree with you at 125 and 141, and I am glad to hear that Andy Patrick is back. That could also be a good battle at 285. I am not sure why you would say that you're not sure who will start at 133. Unless Hochstrasser is hurt or ineligible then that is his weight. I don't see anyone beating him at that weight or even coming close for that matter. He defeated Fish last year in the opens and Fish was Pac-10 champ, he's ranked #1 in the Pac-10 and will be in the mix for AA. His only loss last year was Baker. In reference to 149 and 157 I wasn't sure if you meant the log jam was nationally or at BSU. BSU does have some depth from 141 on up but I think the starters last year will win back those spots.
