Pitt's Drew Headlee goes down in the first round of the Midlands 11-9 to Adam Keiswetter of Nebraska-Kearney. Headlee ended up unseeded but is a past All-American.

Northwestern Recruit and California High Schooler Jason Welch wins his first round match by fall over Blake Reed of Southern Illinois. Looking ahead if Welch gets by Iowa's Brooks Kopsa he could face number 1 ranked Mike Poeta

Scuffle's 2 Seed at 165 Scott Glasser Injury Defaulted out of his first round match...hope it isn't serious
