My point is that two of the top four teams, ISU (Midlands), Iowa (Midlands), OSU (Reno Tournament of Champions), or Minnesota (Southern Scuffle) attend more then one of these. Even at the Midlands neither team will send full teams they never do. Although Iowa, Minny and OSU had the Kaufman Brands open on their schedule Iowa was the only team to send a complete team. OSU ISU, and Minny sent reserves. Except for Iowa vs Iowa State, only face each other in dual setting during the year! At this point I'm not sure which of these teams is is top of the heap, but i am sure they will all finish in the top four nationally come March.
Unless every team is at all the meets this rating of teams is totally invalid and laughable. I fyou used this method starting the end of February, then I agree you would be more accurate, but not now. And your ratings credibility isn't very high.
So my point is made!

^^^Pirate, Yes you are correct - AND THE MIDLANDS! Gosh, I remember back in the late 1950's early 60's we'd go to the Wilkes Open and that was a very strong event and sometimes referred to as "the Rose Bowl of Wrestling." I wish today I also could say "and The Wilkes Open." but it's not the showcase event it once was. Getting old, -Stove Pipe

Getting old, -Stove Pipe I attended the Midlands for years back in the mid seventies through the late 80's and you are right it was the "Rose Bowl of Wrestling" back then! But it has long since lose that luster and is just another wrestling tournament now. I seen some of the very best wrestlers and wrestling annually at that meet. But those days are long gone for many reasons.

I enjoy dual meets also but when the NU-MN duals has 2 FF, I lose it. I find it difficult to believe that any guy on a college team is so poor that a FF takes place. If the coaches are trying to protect tournament seeds that really sux. I can understand it but I don't think it wise to tell a wrestler he is so bad he shouldn' even be on the mat. Where will he get the confidence in a few months to compete? Willyman if you don't enjoy the banter surrounding rankings why bother reading them. Keep in mind another definition of rank is stinky and try to go with the flow I for one really appreciate all the effort these folks put into rating the competitors so I can keep up.

My brother has been ranking teams like this for yrs. As people win or lose, individual rankings change which changes your tourney ranking on paper. Right now if they held the tourney and everyone placed where they were ranked without any bonus points, this is how the teams would place. It ain't perfect, but it is backed up with a solid foundation. It gives you something to work on if you don't like where you fall in this system. What are the other rankings based on? If they are based on dual strength, then follow them early in the yr, and this one late in the yr. My brother can print out spread sheets for the next 4 yrs and rank the teams with this formula based on the recruits strengths and where they are ranked and scheduled to graduate. Again as people win or lose and their rankings change it alters the forecast, but it gives a point of reference right now with a basis.
