D1CW's 2014-15 Preseason Lineups have been updated for most teams. As always, they are given to D1CW by sources close to the team, but there is still a lot to sort out for most schools at this time of year. d1collegewrestling.net/Lineups_Front.htmlThe following lineup have been updated: American Appalachian State Arizona State Army Binghamton Boise State Brown Bucknell CSU-Bakersfield Chattanooga Clarion Cleveland State Columbia Cornell Drexel Eastern Michigan Edinboro Franklin & Marshall Gardner-Webb George Mason Hofstra Illinois Iowa State Kent State Lehigh Lock Haven Maryland Michigan State Minnesota Missouri Navy Nebraska North Carolina NC State North Dakota State Northern Illinois Northwestern Ohio Ohio State Oklahoma Old Dominion Oregon State Penn Princeton Rider Rutgers SIU-Edwardsville South Dakota State Stanford Utah Valley Virginia Virginia Tech West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming

Nice projections, Earl. Just wondering about Edinboro's 285 lb? You have Billy Miller projected; however, I think Forrest Christmann, who was the back-up last year, deserves some consideration. From what I hear, Forrest has the upper hand....

^^When I ck'ed with EUP insiders I was told Miller is expected to start at hwt, and I assume Earl obviously was told the same thing. Who is telling you the kid from Slippery Rock has the upper hand? Thanks.

People within the program. This and looking at how Chistmann has a year of college wrestling experience, and wrestling with Ernest James all season, along with beating some experienced college opponents, and was the back-up last season based on wrestle-offs - it seems that he is in an excellent position to start. One thing is for sure, Edinboro will start the best wrestler and that will be determined in early November when a formal wrestle-off takes place.
This is an interesting spot (285 lbs) in that Edinboro is in a position to finish higher than ever at the NCAAs and the key loss to the team was Ernest James at 285 lbs.
Terrence Cheeks is also in the mix and Christmann has beaten him; however, Miller has not (I'm basing this on wrestle-offs from last year). My guess is that Cheeks/Miller will be close - we will see.
Christmann and Miller both placed at Flonationals and my guess is that Miller might redshirt. Whatever the case, wrestling 285lbs (or any weight for that matter) is tough as a true freshman and we may have to wait until Novemer to see for sure what happens.
Last year, I recall that Jake Hart, a true freshman, was penciled in early as the projected started. Not that it was a complete surprise that he was listed; but Pickett came on strong....
At the very least, listing both of them Christmann/Miller at this point as projections for the lineup is totally justifiable. My thinking is that a true freshman has to earn the spot and move up the depth chart. If you disagree, we will just have to wait until November for the result of the wrestle off.

We shall see...As you mentioned it wouldn't be the first time that someone has stepped up and knocked off a potential starter in these projections. If Christmann is able to do that more power to him and the Edinboro lineup.

Indeed it will be interesting. My guess is that some schools have two wrestlers listed in certain weight classes to make it interesting to focus on the wrestle-off to determine inseason lineup.
The reality is most never have the opportunity to see what is going on at practice and variables such as injuries and academics can be a factor in how the actual lineup plays out.
Your website is great and thanks to your hard work, the wrestling community remains in touch with the complicated world of NCAA Division 1 wrestling!
