2013-14 D1CW ACC Wrestler of the Year: Nick Gwiazdowski (NC State) Nick Gwiazdowski's first season in Raleigh was an eventful one, as he unseated the 2x defending National Champion Tony Nelson of Minnesota in order to win an NCAA Title. Gwiazdowski's 42 wins set an NC State school record and he finished his Sophomore season on a twenty match winning streak. The NCAA Finals win for Nick avenged his last loss of the season at the Southern Scuffle finals.
2013-14 D1CW ACC Coach of the Year: Kevin Dresser (Virginia Tech) For the third consecutive season Kevin Dresser has been named D1CW's ACC Coach of the Year. The Hokie's had a dual season that was below recent standards, yet found a way to peak in the postseason. In the ACC Championships, four Virginia Tech wrestlers took home conference titles and nine qualified for National's. At the NCAA Championships the Hokies had the first NCAA finalist in program history, (Devin Carter) along with two other All-Americans. As a team they finished in 8th place, another program high.
2013-14 D1CW ACC Freshman of the Year: Joey Dance (Virginia Tech) True Freshman entered his collegiate career as one of the top recruits in the High School Class of 2013. After a solid regular season, Dance wrestled up to his recruiting rankings with a 4th place finish at 125lbs. In order to earn All-American honors Dance needed to defeat the #6 and #7 seeds in the consolations. He later beat the eventual 7th place finisher and the #5 seed. Joey Dance also became the first Freshman All-American in Virginia Tech's history.
