Earl, I attended the BIG XII championships yesterday and according to the information that they gave out, 133 in the BIG XII was taking four wrestlers. According to this www.usawrestlingnation.com/forum.php they are taking the top four as well.

Kiley placed fourth, he shouldn't need a wildcard.

If your recommended BSU guys go and perform, the team goes from out of the running to in the thick. LU also had 3 med FF. Same applies to them. From high teens or worse to possible top 10 or better.BTW there are quite a few others after today.

I'm not commenting on the wrestlers or coaches but the rules only. How many med FF or inj def happen if there is no RPI, coaches polls or %. or contrived method for advancing. Regionals mixed by placement in your conference Duals, then to Nationals

Has added benefit of making duals more germane

I hope all the guys, who FF are not hurt too badly and are ready to go 100%. It is sad that bad luck , officiating and health play such a large part in sports but they do and placing guys, who a group think "deserve" to go is not right imo.

I'm going to keep writing this everywhere possible until the system changes. Few would argue D1 is not dying a slow death. T IX is part of it but it also a straw maN to excuse the lack of radical changes necessary to incr3ase fan base and turn D1 up. The sport is growing at the other levels So it implies we look at our model and fix it.

Parity is needed. I believe the fastest way is to give guys a chance to go to the show from conferences with no slots. I'm sure that many of the top flight guys choose their school initially based on opportunity to go to the show or lack there of. 100% schollie at the less places Conference teams would be a lot more appealing than a 20% or less and possibly not cracking the lineup at B5, B11, especially where most of the Us are offering close to the same education as most of the big wrestling schools.

Short term the old line would take a hit but if their product is as good as they claim; things would revert to norm right off. It was this format change that propelled March Madness to gain supremacy over the NITs and caused all the reshuffling of conferences for football money. Where were the "school tie, old tradtion guys" when PSU jumped 2 conferences or the SEC reconfigured? What's the rationale for having a conference soon to have 4 teams? "Follow the money" in a trench coat, in a garage, in a gruff voice.

^^^Sean Bilodeau was one of the most fantastic prep school wrestlers in the United States. He's now been in the Lehigh wrestling room four years. Last weekend he went 1-3 at the EIWA's, concluding the season at 9-11. He redshirted his true frosh year, going 5-5 competing unattached. The past three years his cumulative W/L record is 36-38. I guess he'll compete again next year as a fifth-year senior. Bilodeau can pin mediocre guys, that's for sure.

As a matter of fact there are several on that list you could say were not real qualifiers this year. I've never understood what last years performance has to do with it in the first place.

Theoretically wrestl ing rewards performance in the here and now. A good example of rewarding past performance would be a guy with a 6-0 lead going into the 3rd who then gasses out and loses. You could say based on the first 2 periods he was a better wrestler and therefore deserves to win.

I agree. Stove Pipe used to go out of his way not to deride wrestlers. It seems though he has begun a gravitational slide into the world of Trolls.
